We are also an out-of-network insurance provider with most insurances, and we want to help you along every step of the way navigating that process. Out of network providers mean two things: First, we take payment up front at the beginning of every session, but will provide you with an out-of-network reimbursement receipt for you to turn into your health insurance. They will verify your out-of-network coverage and provide reimbursement.
In order to verify your out-of-network coverage, you can call your health insurance and ask about coverage. We want to make sure you know what to expect in cases of your reimbursement amount, so we ask that this process is done before your first session. We can provide a reimbursement statement from the very first session that will be emailed to you directly after the session occurs.
One of the benefits of using a private-pay mental health therapist is the ultimate privacy that comes with therapy and counseling. If we provide a reimbursement statement for your out of network coverage, please know that we are required to put a mental disorder diagnosis that will fall on your health insurances’ permanent record.
Further, sometimes the help that you seek does not require a mental health diagnosis- such as navigating grief from a loved one, or family stress and conflict. Putting a diagnosis for these issues may affect larger issues down the road, such as security clearances for various careers, or life insurance rates.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost.
Under this law, healthcare providers must provide clients who don’t have or are not utilizing insurance an estimate of the expected charges for psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
